The carbide tipped cutters, which Kvarnstrands has developed since 1947 (the material was then called "Widia"), gives longer running times compared to standard HS cutters. 

New grinding technology and development of the carbide has given much better cutting edges and less cracks in the teeths. Carbide is often used in high speed machines and in applications with no dirt in the material.
